ROBERT CHARLES LASCALA

Born in South Philadelphia, Robert (Rob) LaScala started working in the food and beverage industry while attending college.  While studying Business Administration at LaSalle University, Rob bartended to pay for his college tuition while he stepped outside of hospitality industry for several years he found himself going back to the industry he was most passionate for. As one of Saladwork’s initial franchisees, opening his first location at 17th & Market and went on to own nine Saladworks from Washington D.C. to Philadelphia.  Rob soon thereafter purchased the famed Apollo Pizza location in Media, and later the location in Glenside, PA.  He grew his pizza empire to owning and operating over twenty pizza shops over a twelve year span.

It came time for a further challenge and Rob procured a large corner property at 7th & Chestnut where he opened LaScala’s Restaurant & Bar, competing with two iron chefs on the same block.

LaScala’s quickly became a local favorite, and led Rob to continue pursuing his dreams. LaScala’s expanded the brand, opening LaScala’s Pronto in Philadelphia. Serving the same menu, Pronto specializes in take-out and delivery service. Then in 2016, the group opened LaScala’s Fire, located in the Promenade at Sagemore in Marlton, NJ. With its modern décor and youthful atmosphere, Fire brought a new “flare” to the LaScala’s brand, specializing in Wood-Fired cooking.  In the heart of South Philadelphia, 2017 brought LaScala’s Birra to the LaScala Restaurant Group. LaScala’s Birra is the newest restaurant to join the group, with a fresh concept of Creative Pizza, Artisan Italian, World Beers. Later that year, this concept was brought to Pennsauken, NJ where an additional LaScala’s Birra opened.  

 

With over fourteen years of successful catering in his restaurants, Rob decided to form a catering company, Events by LaScala, with its own kitchen and commissary, Events is able to cater weddings, graduations, corporate events and more. LaScala also took his catering on the road, with the LaScala Food Truck and LaScala Pizza Truck.  Rob’s now well-known LaScala Restaurant Group currently employs over 400 workers at over 25 locations throughout Philadelphia and South Jersey. Additional locations are on the horizon, with plans to bring the group to Glassboro, Rowan University, Route 70 in Marlton, NJ and Gateway Shopping Center in King of Prussia.
